SAN FRANCISCO — Nearly all the class false advertising claims against BellRing Brands, the makers of a popular line of protein powders and shakes, were tossed in California federal court after consumers said the products contain lead. The claims are preempted by federal law, or lack evidence. The sole claim not preempted is based on labels that called the products a “healthy snack,” as that is not a specific nutrient promise and not expressly preempted.
