TAMPA — The creators of the documentary, “Finding Kendrick Johnson,” which explores the 2013 death of a high school student whose body was found inside an upright wrestling mat in his school’s gym, must face defamation by implication claims from a family who says the film represents that two brothers murdered Johnson and their father, who was an FBI agent, helped them cover it up. A federal judge in Florida also ruled that the family may pursue defamation claims regarding several specific statements made in the film. Johnson’s death was ruled accidental by authorities.
