Role model

I never thought I’d write this but it turns out that Donald Trump is a role model. We need to realize this and we need to give him and his supporters what they want.

This occurred to me the other day after reading about the amendment to the Trump lawsuit against CBS for editing its preelection interview on “60 Minutes” with Kamala Harris. Now, among other things, Trump’s lawyers are claiming that not only was the interview slanted to make Harris look good but also that CBS somehow had a financial interest in doing that.

Hmm.

Now consider just about any programming on Fox, OAN or NewsMax. Why isn’t Kamala Harris suing? Trump is claiming he was damaged even though he won. Harris actually was damaged — she lost.

OK, I know some of you are thinking Harris isn’t suing because she’s sane or knows something about the law but what good are those traits these days? People on the left need to learn from people on the right how to be effective. After all, if New York Times v. Sullivan is going to be thrown out, there will be many opportunities for strategic bias suing.

If Kamala isn’t willing to sue, there are lots of other potential plaintiffs out there. Adam Schiff comes to mind. Just as the Trump team added a Texas congressman to their suit to get a home field advantage, Schiff has his pick of California courts.

And think of all the fun lefties will have suing people on X.

All of that, though, is pretty obvious. There are other Trump team moves to learn from. For example:

Naming: Gulf of America, meet the Trans-Empire State Building. There are so many naming opportunities on state property (or property owned by liberals). I want to go hiking in the Sierra California mountains.

Pardons: Lots of state prisoners can be pardoned after they sing in a chorus. Anyone arrested at a civil rights protest definitely gets a pass.

DEI litigation? Meet IIN litigation: If you can sue over Diversity, Equity and Inclusion because it denies opportunity based on merit, then certainly you can sue over Incompetence, Inequity and Nepotism because it denies opportunity based on merit.

Yeah, I know IIN suits sound a lot like anti-discrimination suits, but we need to say things properly in public.

Hiring guys on TV: So many interesting choices for blue state offices. This is a little more difficult because a lot of the good positions in states are elected offices but there are still possibilities. Just about anybody on CNBC could be chancellor of the university system or commission of the State Education Department. Rachel Maddow has to be NYC Police Commissioner.

Appointing ourselves: Kathy Hochul, obviously, should name herself chairperson of the Rockefeller Center. Gavin Newsome can head up the California Arts Council.

Reading fun. Who says judging can’t be fun?

I’m picturing the glee a California federal judge must have had to get assigned to a copyright infringement case involving two “young adult” novels.

An order denying a motion for a preliminary injunction included:

“In ‘Nightweaver,’ the surprising technology was an automobile, which the protagonist’s little sister squeals at, and the scene is contextualized by the protagonist’s reflections on how hard life has been for her family. In Book 2, the surprising technology was a robot, which the protagonist herself squeals at, and the scene is set in a glass house, with only the protagonist and her love interest present, and takes place during a flirty exchange.”

We’ve all been shocked by cars and robots.

And:

“Plaintiff claims that both works have brothers who have ‘the ability to control multiple wolf dogs/wolves’ because in Book 2, there is a character who has trained Siberian huskies; in ‘Nightweaver,’ there is a character who has the magical ability to control wolves.”

Dog training does seem a lot like magic.

I know you want to read these books now.

Lucky judge.
