$12,500 for voter rolls

MILWAUKEE — After an elections integrity advocacy group requested the Wisconsin voter rolls, the elections commissioner assessed a $12,500 fee. The activist group sued, claiming the fee is unreasonable under the National Voter Registration Act. A federal court has upheld the commissioner’s action because the law does not apply to states that will register voters on election day, as Wisconsin does.
